Buffalo Soldier Heritage Day

In partnership with the Fort Concho Foundation and the San Angelo Chapter of the NAACP, Fort Concho will celebrate Buffalo Soldier Heritage Day with a program featuring two guest speakers.

Gail Goth, living historian and interpreter for over twenty-seven years, will focus her discussion on Army laundresses with her talk, “Suds, Slop, and Sewing: the Life of a US Military Laundress.”

Henry Crawford, retired Curator of History at the Museum of Texas Tech University, will present his talk, “Buffalo Soldiers and the Frontier Army: Men, Mission, and Myth.”

The event will be held in the Stables and is free to all.

In order to meet current City guidelines, the event has a limited capacity of 100 guests. Seating will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Masks and social distancing will be required.
