Field Trips

Fort Concho offers group tours to area schools throughout the year.
There are three options for visiting the fort with your class(es).

“Living History” Tours for Schools

For school groups of 75+
Reservations are required for all groups
Docents/guides will be dressed in period clothing and will interpret several fort buildings
Students will rotate in groups of no more than 25 among 5 (or more) manned buildings and 3 unmanned buildings (as time allows) in 10 – 20 minute time increments
A stop in the gift shop will be offered, but is optional



Tour Cost:
$2.00 per student
Teachers FREE
One FREE chaperone for every 10 High School students or one FREE chaperone for every 8 Jr. High/Elementary students
All other adults $3.00


Reservations are required for all groups
Schools can come out Monday thru Friday for a self-guided tour
A stop in the gift shop will be offered, but optional.
Maps will be made available to teachers and chaperones with suggested transition times if touring with a large group

Self-Guided Tours for Schools


Guided Tours for Small Groups

For school groups of 35 or less (including chaperones/teachers)
Tour given by one of Fort Concho’s trained tour guides
Tours available Wednesday thru Friday
A stop in the gift shop will be offered, but is optional
