Memorial Day
Fort Concho will host the annual Memorial Day Exercises to honor those who made the ultimate
sacrifice in defending our nation on Monday, May 30, at 900 am, on the fort Parade Ground in front
of the site’s Headquarters Building. The program is co-sponsored by the Pocahontas Chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution.
The guest speaker will be Pastor Joe Bourgeois, an Air Force veteran and current pastor of the West Side
Baptist Church in San Angelo. Members of the Fort Concho Living History program will post the colors
and provide a memorial salute with the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. Mayor Brenda Gunter and
Tom Green County Commissioner Rick Bacon will speak on behalf of the city and county.
Refreshments will be provided after the ceremony by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The program is free to all. Fort Concho Museum with ten display and exhibit buildings will remain open
from 900 am to 500 pm.
