Enjoy a lunchtime talk by area speakers covering different topics of our community heritage. The program is held in the Commissary Building, 702 Burgess at Avenue C. Each day’s session begins shortly after noon. Free Admission.

Armed Forces Day

Join us for a tribute to our nation’s armed forces with displays and programs. There is no charge to watch the programs; regular admission fees will be in effect to tour the fort’s buildings.

Memorial Day Program
May 28 @ 9:00 am – 10:00 am

Join us on the eastern end of the Fort Concho Parade Ground near the Headquarters Building for a program to honor the men and women who have given their lives to defend our nation. The program is co-sponsored by Fort Concho and the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  After the event ends, the fort will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for the rest of the holiday. (Regular Admission Charges)

Fun at the Fort- Come In My Kitchen

Step into the kitchen of Officers’ Quarters 6 and help us make some tasty treats from long ago. There will be lots of hands on fun with yummy results to enjoy!

Fun at the Fort-Digging in the Dirt

Become an archeologist!! Come dig for clues in the dirt, learn to throw an atlatl, and make some neat crafts to take home.
Taught by the Concho Valley Archeology Society.

Independence Day at Fort Concho

Following an old army tradition, Fort Concho will fire artillery salutes on our nation’s birthday. The artillery salutes will take place on the hour near the Visitor Center at Barracks 1. There is no charge for the demonstrations; regular site admission will be in effect.

Fun at the Fort-Southwest Indians

Come listen to tales and legends of the Southwest Indians. Visit a teepee, sample Indian foods and create your own crafts to take home.

Fun at the Fort-Join the Infantry

Enlist and be a soldier for a day! Learn to march and drill, sample hardtack and take home a souvenir of your trip to the past.

National Cowboy Day

Come to the fort’s Quartermaster Galleries, near East Avenue C at Burgess Street, to celebrate National Cowboy Day. The morning celebration will start off with a light breakfast of coffee, juice, and sweet rolls as well as a few short talks by some of the artists whose work is on display for the annual American Plains Artists Show. Following the talks the Concho Cowboy Company will perform their fast-action, high-drama gun fight.
The light breakfast, talks, and skit will be free to all with donations kindly accepted.

Fort Concho Museum Day

Join Fort Concho and the San Angelo Nature Center for Museum Day! Explore the fort’s historic buildings, meet some of the native animals of the Southwest, and create fun take-home crafts. Admission will be half-price (Adults – $1.50, Senior/ Military – $1.00, Children – $.75).
